The new band MAS 0094, Profils (Interview①)
MAS 0094. You read it as ‘MAS Gong Gong Gu Sa’, and you may just call them ‘MAS’ to make it short. ‘MAS’ is a short word for ‘Make A Sound’. It includes the ambition of ‘We will make our own music‘. ‘0094’ was created based on the fact that the oldest hyung was born in 1994, and the maknae in 2000. It’s simple but it’s cuter the more you think about it.
They debuted as band last August, the member are five, Kanghyun (Leader, guitar)·Yonghoon (Vocal, guitar)·Harin (Drum)·Dongmyeong (Vocal, piano)·Cya (Bass, rap). Recently going on their sixth months since debut, they released their second mini-album ‘MAKE SOME NOISE’. In 2017, (we prepared) profils, and behind (stories), that the members personally answered for us to find out in depth MAS' appeal, which appeared quickly during promotion.

Come from: Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do
Nickname: Pingu
The main character of an animation, it’s a penguin. The members said I have the same expressions. (MAS: Show us Pingu’s expressions please.) Right now? (And after hesitating for a while Kanghyun showed us Pingu’s face, making us laugh. It was Pingu with round eyes and the lips in the right shape(?).)

Name: Yonghoon

Age: 24* (Born August 17th, 1994) *(T/N: Korean age)
Comes from: Ulsan
Ulsan is my hometown, but I live in Suwon now. But right now I really don’t use satori** (T/N: A dialect. It’s different depending on the regions) When I’m having a conversation with my friends or my parents, or sometimes when I lose my temper, it comes out. (laugh) I went to (enter) college and I started my life in Seoul. Right now, because of the team activities I’m living in Suwon. We don’t live in the dorms, each member lives with his family. I live alone.
Nickname: Yongpoon-hyung
It started because Kanghyunie made a mistake while writing my name in the chat room, instead of ‘Yonghoon-hyung’ he wrote ‘Yongpoon-hyung’. It wasn’t a big deal but all the kids laughed.
Specialty: Football
Name: Harin
In charge of: Drum
Age: 20* years old (Born March 29th, 1998) *(T/N: Korean age)
Comes from: Seoul
Seoul is my hometown and right now I live in Suwon.
Nickname: Thick eyebrows, drummer who is good at everything but drum.
When I hear a song I can render it with the piano. I don’t know the cords but I can play it after hearing it. I taught myself saxophone. To the extent where I can play do-ré-mi-fa-sol-la-si-do.
Specialty: build things, fix things.
I’ve also a lot of interest in cars. When I was young I would collect car models as a hobby. I also got my driving license right away. I failed once while taking the driving test but I think it’s because Dongmyeong was always saying ‘Hyung will fail’ (Dongmyeong: I was really sorry) I passed with a high score. I got 98 points. (Everyone is in awe)

Comes from: Suwon
Nickname: Pebble, Dongming, Foot-Myeong
My Chinese name is Dongming. Foot-Dongmyeong, I have big feet. It’s 280mm*** (T/N: 43 / size 10). Because I don’t like them being big I’m wearing shoes that are 275mm**** (T/N: 42.5 / size 9.5) today. If I watch the broadcasts all I can see are my feet. (Cya: Like a Hobbit)

Nickname: Fennec
(Yonghoon: He looks like SHINWA Kim Dongwan-sunbae-nim and BTS Jin-sunbae-nim) I guess so. (10.(?)I think he looks like a hamster) Hamster? I’m a fennec. (Everyone laugh) I’ve heard my friend say that I looks like one a lot. (Dongmyeong: It’s something you said yourself)
Specialty: basketball, video game, rap.
I don’t remember a lot of them. (MAS: Have a bit of confidence!) Ah, I’m good with the sound of owls. (Cya did an owls sounds imitation on the spot, letting us hear the sounds of nature)
